This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing internal communications and engagement function at St Christopher's.
We are on a journey to strengthen how we communicate, collaborate and engage across the organisation — helping colleagues feel more informed, connected and involved in the work we do. Our ambition is to make internal communications a more visible, creative and trusted part of everyday life at St Christopher's, and this role will play an important part in helping us get there.
Our teams work across a wide range of services — from clinical care and research to fundraising, retail and community engagement — so we need communications that are clear, accessible and relevant to colleagues working in different settings.
This is an opportunity to help shape and elevate internal communications at a hospice that is committed to continuous improvement and delivering a great colleague experience.
As Internal Communications and Engagement Officer, you will support the delivery of clear, engaging and accessible internal communications across St Christopher's.
Working closely with the Internal Communications and Engagement Manager, you will help colleagues across our diverse workforce feel informed, connected and engaged with our purpose, strategy and values. This is a hands-on role where you will create content, support day-to-day channel management and help bring organisational messages to life in ways that resonate with colleagues working in different settings, including clinical services, retail, fundraising and corporate functions.
You will take ownership of our regular staff communications, including producing our internal newsletter and keeping our intranet and other core channels up to date, ensuring colleagues can rely on a consistent flow of clear, timely and engaging information. Alongside this day-to-day ownership, you will also support the delivery of campaigns, projects and engagement activity across the organisation.
You will support a range of internal communication channels and content formats, including the intranet, newsletters, email updates, posters, digital screens, presentations, staff briefings, videos and other digital and printed materials. You will help ensure communications are timely, relevant, accessible and visually engaging.
You will gather stories, feedback and examples from across the organisation, helping to ensure a range of colleague voices and experiences are represented. You will also work collaboratively with colleagues across different teams to support campaigns, engagement activities and organisational priorities.
As part of a function that is evolving and modernising, you will be encouraged to use insight, data and approved AI tools to improve the way we plan, create and evaluate communications. This could include using AI to support content creation, campaign planning, audience insight, analysis and more efficient ways of working. The role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape how new technologies can enhance colleague communications and engagement.
We are looking for an organised, creative and people-focused communications professional who is ready to take the next step in their internal communications career.
You will have:
- Experience in internal communications, communications, marketing or employee engagement.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible and engaging content.
- Experience creating content across a variety of formats, including articles, newsletters, posters, presentations, digital content and video.
- Experience working across multiple communication channels and helping improve their effectiveness.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable balancing planned, recurring communications delivery, such as regular newsletters, intranet updates and channel management, alongside project and campaign work.
- Confidence building relationships with colleagues across different teams and levels.
- An interest in using insight, feedback, data and approved AI tools to improve communication planning, content creation and engagement.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to identify opportunities, suggest improvements and continuously learn.
- You will also be a strong team player — someone who is curious, practical and motivated by helping colleagues feel informed, connected and engaged.
You will play an important role in strengthening how colleagues across St Christopher's stay informed, connected and engaged, while helping shape a growing internal communications and engagement function. We offer:
- A collaborative and supportive working environment
- Opportunities for professional development
- Health and wellbeing initiatives
- A competitive benefits package
