Job Overview:
PappaRoti Manchester is seeking an experienced and passionate Breakfast Chef to lead our breakfast, brunch and lunch kitchen.
This is a senior, hands-on position with responsibility for running kitchen shifts, leading the kitchen team and maintaining consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and service.
The successful candidate will be supported by our Group Operations Chef but must be confident taking ownership of day-to-day kitchen operations and leading services independently. The position would suit either an established senior breakfast/brunch chef or a strong and ambitious breakfast chef ready to progress into a kitchen leadership role.
Our menu features breakfast, brunch and lunch favourites, including Full English breakfasts, eggs Benedict, shakshuka, steak and eggs, French toast, granola bowls, salads, pastas and sandwiches.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead kitchen shifts and ensure each service runs smoothly, efficiently and to a consistently high standard
- Organise and direct the kitchen team, allocating tasks and maintaining clear communication throughout preparation and service
- Prepare and cook dishes in accordance with company recipes, portion specifications and presentation standards
- Maintain consistency across all dishes, with particular attention to cooking accuracy, plating and presentation
- Ensure the kitchen is fully prepared and ready before each service
- Supervise, support and train other kitchen team members
- Work closely with the Group Operations Chef to implement systems, maintain standards and develop the kitchen operation
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, stock control and inventory management
- Minimise waste through effective preparation, portion control and stock rotation
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and equipment care throughout the kitchen
- Ensure all food safety, allergen, hygiene, temperature-control and health and safety procedures are followed
- Complete relevant kitchen checks, records and opening or closing duties
- Identify and resolve issues during service calmly and professionally
- Work hands-on during busy periods while remaining responsible for the overall performance of the kitchen
- Be comfortable working within a smaller team and independently when required
Experience and Skills
- Proven experience in a busy breakfast or brunch kitchen is essential
- Previous experience leading shifts, supervising kitchen staff or taking responsibility for a kitchen service is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of egg-based and brunch cooking, including all common egg-cooking methods
- Experience preparing dishes such as eggs Benedict, Full English breakfasts, shakshuka, steak and eggs and French toast
- Confidence leading kitchen shifts and directing other team members
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and kitchen organisation
- Good understanding of food safety, allergens, hygiene regulations and kitchen record-keeping
- Ability to remain organised and make effective decisions during fast-paced service periods
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in relation to consistency, plating and presentation
- Reliable, punctual and able to take responsibility for the kitchen
- A positive, hands-on leadership style with the ability to support and develop others

Pay: £36,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
