Every day, people in our community face complex challenges that can feel overwhelming. Repeat homelessness, poor health, trauma, social isolation, safeguarding concerns and multiple disadvantages can make sustainable change difficult to achieve.
At Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, were looking for a skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our innovative Housing and Fairer Stockton-on-Tees team, supporting adults experiencing homelessness and housing instability to achieve greater independence, improve their wellbeing and build lasting resilience.
This is an opportunity to undertake meaningful social work with some of our most vulnerable residents, helping people overcome barriers and access the right support at the right time.

Were looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with adults who have experienced homelessness, multiple disadvantage or complex social needs
- Holds a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England
- Can confidently undertake safeguarding enquiries, risk assessments and support planning
- Is professionally resilient and able to make sound decisions in challenging situations
- Builds positive relationships and works effectively with partner agencies
- Is passionate about strengths-based practice and helping people achieve positive, sustainable change

What youll be doing
- As a Social Worker, you will manage a varied and rewarding caseload, providing high-quality statutory social work support to adults with complex needs. Your work will include:
- Undertaking strengths-based assessments and applying professional judgement to complex situations
- Developing and reviewing outcome-focused care and support plans
- Leading or contributing to safeguarding enquiries and protection planning
- Assessing and managing risk while promoting peoples rights, choice and independence
- Working collaboratively with housing, health, voluntary and community sector partners
- Supporting individuals through significant life transitions and periods of crisis
