Young Carer Support Worker
£28,500 per annum (pro rata) actual £17,332
22.5 hours per week
Based at: Central Office, 107 & 109 Station Road, Ashington, NE63 8RS (Hybrid working currently in place)
Fixed Term: 12 months (initially)
Carers Northumberland is looking for a warm, approachable, and motivated Young Carer Support Worker to join our team. We are looking for someone who can build trusted relationships with young carers, providing a safe space to talk, help them understand and manage the impact of their caring role, supporting their wellbeing, and increasing their confidence and resilience. The key elements of this role include offering 1-to-1 support and group activities in schools, building positive relationships with young carers, working closely with school staff, families and other professionals, and helping to shape the Young Carer Service.
The work we do is incredibly varied, and our staff team come from a range of different backgrounds. We are looking for someone who is empathetic, patient, non-judgemental, resilience and outcome focused. Experience of working with children and young people is essential. You will be required to travel to meetings and events throughout Northumberland and due to the nature of the county access to your own transport is needed.
