Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be able to work alone and in a team, have extensive kitchen expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional home cooked food. This role involves food preparation, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. The successful applicant will play a leading role in creating menus and supervising the kitchen to ensure smooth service during busy periods. A highly flexible approach to the working week is guaranteed giving a genuine understanding of work life balance generally not available within a professional kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Work in the kitchen team to ensure efficient food production and service delivery
- Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Oversee and operate food safety practices, ensuring compliance with health regulations at all times
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen operations
- Develop new menu items in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends
- Work on their own and with other members of the team
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in line with hygiene standards
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a pub or hospitality setting
- Strong background in food production, food preparation, and cooking techniques
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Competence in menu development and knowledge of current trends
- Previous experience in pub kitchens is highly desirable
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of quality
