FTE Salary: £29,215 - £38,387 per annum (Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience)

Freeman College, part of Ruskin Mill Trust, is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Functional Skills Tutor to join our specialist education team. Working with young people with autism and learning differences, you will deliver engaging Functional Skills lessons that build confidence, independence and life-changing outcomes.
This is a unique opportunity to teach in a creative, therapeutic environment where learning is connected to practical crafts, real-life experiences and meaningful vocational activities.
Main Duties:
- Deliver Functional Skills Maths and English from Entry Level to Level 2.
- Create engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual learners.
- Support students with learning disabilities and additional learning needs.
- Embed literacy and numeracy into practical craft and vocational activities.
- Assess progress, set targets and celebrate achievement.
- Work collaboratively with tutors, learning assistants and wider support teams.
- Help learners overcome barriers to education and achieve their full potential.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Qualified to teach (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent)
- Experienced in teaching Maths and English from Entry Level to Level 2
- Passionate about supporting learners with SEND and learning disabilities
- Skilled at motivating and engaging young people
- Positive, adaptable and reflective in their practice
- An excellent communicator who builds strong relationships with students and colleagues

Freeman College found its home in a former cutlery works in the heart of Sheffield. The curriculum focuses on craft activities including the hand forging of cutlery. Textiles, copper spinning, pewter work, jewellery, Iron Age forge and green woodwork are also offered. Freeman College is part of Ruskin Mill Trust.
