Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-time Nursery Cook to join our team at Burnt Mills, SS13 1DY. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for nursery children, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained. Duties
- Prepare and cook meals suitable for nursery-aged children, adhering to dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines.
- Plan menus in collaboration with nursery management, ensuring variety and balanced nutrition.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Ensure all food is stored correctly, with proper labelling and rotation to prevent waste.
- Assist with ordering supplies and managing stock levels of ingredients and kitchen essentials.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times, including HACCP protocols.
- Serve meals to children in a friendly and caring manner, promoting positive mealtime experiences.
- Record temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and other necessary documentation accurately.
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a childcare, school, or similar environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is essential.
- Previous experience working in a kitchen setting, including meal preparation and serving, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with culinary techniques suitable for young children will be advantageous.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment such as a restaurant or catering service is beneficial but not mandatory.
