Management Accountant
Overview
FSEW is seeking a commercially minded and hands-on Management Accountant to support the continued development of the finance function during a period of operational growth and change.
The role will work closely with the Finance Manager and report directly to the Part-Time Finance Director. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial reporting, improving controls and processes, and increasing the level of insight available to management across the business.
This is a practical role suited to somebody who enjoys being involved in the detail whilst also contributing to wider improvements within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts & Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Produce accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations
- Support monthly accruals, prepayments and journals
- Assist with month-end close processes
- Produce departmental and operational reporting
- Support cashflow reporting and forecasting
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Analyse costs, margins and operational performance
Operational Finance
- Support purchase ledger and sales ledger processes where required
- Review and improve existing finance processes and controls
- Assist with audit preparation and year-end requirements
- Help improve reporting accuracy and visibility across the business
Business Support & Development
- Work closely with operational teams to improve financial understanding
- Support development of KPI reporting and performance analysis
- Assist with implementation of process improvements and efficiencies
- Contribute to creating a scalable and resilient finance structure
- Support the FD with the development of the team
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Part-Time Finance Director
- Works closely alongside the Finance Manager
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience in a management accounting or similar finance role
- Strong system skills
- Good understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills with both finance and non-finance staff
- Full right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience within logistics, transport or operational businesses
- Part-qualified or qualified by experience
- Experience improving finance processes and controls

Pay: Up to £45,000.00 per year
