We are now looking for a compassionate, resilient and motivated Welfare Intervention Officer to join our highly regarded Bury Integrated Rehabilitation Support (IRS) Service.

About the Service
The Bury IRS Service brings together a wide range of specialist organisations within a single community-based hub, creating easy access to support for people on probation.
Working alongside our lead partner, The Big Life Group, and a network of statutory and voluntary agencies, we deliver tailored interventions that address the complex issues often faced by people involved in the criminal justice system.
Our service supports individuals to strengthen their wellbeing, improve relationships, access education and employment opportunities, develop life skills and reduce the risk of reoffending, helping them move towards a more stable and independent future.
About the Role
As a Welfare Intervention Officer, you will provide person-centred support to individuals on probation, helping them identify and overcome the challenges affecting their lives.
Working in partnership with probation services and community organisations, you will assess needs, coordinate interventions, advocate on behalf of customers and support them to access the services they need to achieve positive outcomes.
No two days are the same. You will work with individuals facing a range of challenges, including housing issues, financial difficulties, emotional wellbeing concerns, family relationship breakdowns, social isolation, lack of access to services and barriers to employment or training.
Through practical and emotional support, you will empower customers to take ownership of their goals and make meaningful progress towards long-term independence.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver personalised welfare interventions that support rehabilitation, wellbeing and social inclusion.

Carry out initial conversations and develop action plans tailored to individual circumstances.

Build positive, professional relationships with customers, supporting engagement and motivation.

Advocate on behalf of customers and help them access services, benefits, housing support, education, training and employment opportunities.

Work collaboratively with probation services and multi-agency partners to achieve shared outcomes.

Support customers to develop practical life skills, emotional resilience and confidence.

Facilitate difficult conversations and provide support around family relationships and social networks.

Signpost and refer customers to specialist services where appropriate.

Maintain accurate records, case notes and performance information in line with organisational requirements.

Contribute to the ongoing development of the service and positive partnership working across agencies.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals and helping people achieve lasting positive change.
You will ideally have experience within criminal justice, housing, homelessness, welfare rights, community support, family support, mental wellbeing, substance misuse or a similar support environment.
You will also demonstrate:
