Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Chef to join our kitchen operation at our brilliant community pub, The George in Bethersden.
The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef and Chef in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes. This position is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment and possess a strong commitment to food safety and culinary excellence, looking to build their experience in the catering sector.
Duties
- Own the preparation of our menus, making sure all prep is completed on time and to the highest standard.
- Assist and during busy shifts, take responsibility for the cooking of meals, focusing on making sure all customers have the best food experience possible.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
- Help with menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes.
- Monitor inventory levels of kitchen supplies and assist with ordering when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely service.
- Participate in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
- Assist KPs during food production, providing guidance and support as needed.
Experience
- Previous experience in a hospitality or culinary environment is needed, with a solid understanding of food production processes.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and practices is essential.
- Experience in supervising or managing kitchen teams is advantageous.
- Proficiency in various cooking techniques and methods, with a passion for culinary arts.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
