ROLE PURPOSE
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of GNFR Procurement is a new, strategic, autonomous role designed to identify and execute value-driven opportunities across the company’s Goods Not For Resale (GNFR) expenditure. As a standalone Head of Department, you will have sole responsibility for the end-to-end contract lifecycle, focusing on securing significant cost savings and service improvements, initially within Logistics and IT categories
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Contract Negotiation & Commercial Strategy: Lead the negotiation of key contracts to deliver enhanced commercial terms, cost savings, and/or improved service levels.
Performance Frameworks: Ensure all contracts include robust, relevant Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive supplier accountability.
Must be highly proficient in drafting, structuring and negotiating complex supplier contracts.
Risk Management & Exit Strategy: Guarantee that every contract contains "clean" exit clauses, providing the business with the flexibility to terminate should service standards fall below expectations.
Contract Governance: Design and maintain a comprehensive contracts database to track values, identify risks/opportunities, and provide visibility on critical negotiation timelines (start and finish dates). Plan and implement any other relevant procurement governance that is required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a strategic partner to the Legal Counsel and all functional heads across the business to ensure procurement activities align with operational and legal requirements.
Financial Impact: Secure a minimum of £500k p.a. in savings during the first year, with a long-term target of £1m+ p.a.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
MCIPS (or equivalent) Qualified procurement professional.
Previous experience (10+ years) in a similar role, with extensive GNFR procurement experience, ideally within Logistics and IT.
Self-Starter: Highly driven and capable of working independently without a supporting team.
Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of contract law and commercial levers to drive savings.
Category Expertise: Proven experience managing GNFR contracts, with a specific focus on Logistics and IT sectors.
Influencing Skills: Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to achieve business objectives.
