Aspira Education is recruiting a Learning Support Practitioner to join a specialist education setting supporting young people with additional and complex needs.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building strong relationships with young people and helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally.
You’ll work closely with teachers, therapists and the wider support team, providing a mixture of 1:1, small-group and classroom support.
The setting takes a holistic approach to education, with a strong focus on preparing young people for greater independence and life beyond education.
Day's: Mon - Friday (5 day's per week)
Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm
The role
As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will:
- Support young people with their learning both inside and outside the classroom
- Work 1:1 with individual students and support small groups where required
- Help students work towards their individual education, development and independence targets
- Support teachers with the delivery of a broad and engaging curriculum
- Use positive behaviour strategies to support students who may display behaviours that challenge
- Adapt your communication and approach to meet individual needs
- Support students with life skills, independence and preparation for adulthood
- Encourage positive social interaction, confidence and appropriate friendships
- Follow individual Education, Care, Behaviour Support, Communication and Sensory plans
- Work alongside teaching staff, therapists and support professionals to provide consistent support
- Contribute to recording and monitoring student progress, behaviour and wellbeing
- Support students to participate in activities both on and off site
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety and professional practice
Who we're looking for
We’re looking for someone who is patient, resilient, positive and genuinely motivated by helping young people progress.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience working within education, SEND, SEMH, care, youth work or a similar environment
- Experience supporting young people with additional needs
- Confidence supporting behaviour that may challenge
- A good understanding of safeguarding
- Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
- A flexible approach and willingness to adapt to the needs of individual students
Experience within a specialist education setting is beneficial, but we are also interested in candidates from transferable backgrounds who have the right attitude and experience supporting young people.

Requirements
Successful applicants will need:
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- An Enhanced Child DBS, including Children’s Barred List checks
- Satisfactory references and safeguarding checks
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- The ability to work within what can sometimes be a physically and emotionally demanding environment
A driving licence may be beneficial due to the location of the setting and the nature of some off-site activities.
