Experienced Stonemason / Stone Fabricator
The Quartz Worktop Company
Cublington, Buckinghamshire
Full-time, permanent
Starting salary: £45,000 per year
About the opportunity
Are you an experienced stonemason who takes real pride in the quality of your work—clean mitres, crisp profiles, accurate polishing and a finish that is right first time?
The Quartz Worktop Company is a growing stone fabrication and installation business based in Cublington, Buckinghamshire. As part of our continued expansion, we are looking for an experienced stonemason to join our workshop team in a permanent, full-time position.
This is an opportunity to join an ambitious, forward-thinking company where traditional stonemasonry skills are valued and supported by modern technology, high-quality machinery and a strong commitment to health and safety.
We are owner-managed by experienced stonemasons and stone installers who have spent their working lives within the industry. We understand the skill, patience and judgement required to produce exceptional stonework—and we want to create the kind of workplace in which good tradespeople can take pride in what they do, feel valued and build a long-term future.
The role
This is a skilled workshop fabrication position for someone who is already confident working independently with a wide range of natural and engineered materials.
You will be responsible for producing high-quality kitchen worktops and other bespoke stone products in:
- Granite
- Marble
- Quartz
- Porcelain
- Quartzite
Your work will include:
- Fabricating stone worktops accurately from digital templates, drawings and production information
- Producing high-quality mitred and built-up work, including mitred aprons, waterfall ends and boxed details
- Creating bespoke and intricate edge profiles
- Hand-polishing edges, cut-outs, curves and detailed sections to a consistently high standard
- Completing sink cut-outs, hob cut-outs, tap holes, drainer details and other worktop features
- Working with adhesives, resins, reinforcement systems and stone-repair products
- Matching veins and patterns across joints, mitres and adjoining pieces
- Checking dimensions, tolerances, edge details and finishes throughout production
- Carrying out final quality-control checks before work leaves the workshop
- Identifying and correcting defects rather than allowing problems to reach the installation stage
- Operating workshop machinery and hand tools safely and correctly
- Maintaining a clean, organised and professional working area
- Supporting and sharing knowledge with developing members of the workshop team
The experience we need
Applicants must have at least five years of proven experience in stone worktop fabrication.
This is not a trainee position. You will need to demonstrate that you can confidently complete advanced fabrication and finishing work without continuous supervision.
The successful applicant will have:
- A minimum of five years’ experience as a stonemason or stone fabricator
- Strong practical experience working with granite, marble, quartz, porcelain and quartzite
- Proven experience producing mitred built-up work
- The ability to produce intricate profiles and bespoke details
- Excellent hand-polishing and finishing skills
- A strong understanding of stone characteristics, including the different handling requirements of natural stone, engineered quartz and porcelain
- The ability to read and work accurately from drawings, templates and measurements
- A good understanding of adhesives, resins, reinforcement, polishing systems, blades and tooling
- Excellent attention to detail and a genuine commitment to quality
- The judgement to identify potential fabrication problems before they become installation problems
- A professional, dependable and positive attitude
- A willingness to follow all workshop procedures, health-and-safety controls and PPE requirements
Experience with CNC machinery is advantageous, although training can be provided on our specific systems.
A modern workshop built around craftsmanship
We have invested heavily in equipment and technology designed to improve accuracy, consistency, productivity and employee safety.
Our facilities include:
- Five-axis CNC stone-processing machinery
- CNC routing and machining equipment
- Combined saw and waterjet technology
- Automated edge-polishing equipment
- Digital templating and CAD production systems
- High-resolution slab scanning
- Dedicated dust-control and fabrication booths
- Wet-processing and water-management systems
- Professional respiratory protective equipment and workplace controls
We believe modern technology should support skilled stonemasons—not replace them. Our machinery handles much of the repetitive processing, while the knowledge, judgement and finishing ability of an experienced craftsperson remain central to the quality of the finished product.
Health and safety
Health and safety is a major priority within our business.
The stone industry has historically accepted working practices that exposed people to unnecessary levels of dust. We do not believe that should be considered normal or acceptable.
We have made significant investments in wet-processing systems, dust-controlled working areas, extraction and airflow improvements, respiratory protection, suitable PPE, training and safer production methods. We continually review our processes and expect every member of the team to follow the controls provided.
We want experienced stonemasons to be able to continue using their skills while working in an environment that takes their long-term health seriously.
Why join The Quartz Worktop Company?
We are a young, growing and ambitious company with clear plans for continued expansion.
Joining us now means becoming part of that growth rather than simply filling another position in a large, impersonal organisation.
We offer:
- A starting salary of £45,000 per year
- A permanent, full-time position
- 21 days’ annual holiday plus bank holidays
- A modern and well-equipped workshop
- Significant investment in dust control and employee safety
- The opportunity to work on premium, technically challenging and bespoke projects
- Genuine opportunities to develop into senior, supervisory or training responsibilities as the company grows
- An owner-managed business led by people who understand stone fabrication and installation
- A positive, supportive and team-focused working environment
- A culture built around honesty, integrity, craftsmanship and doing the job right first time
The person we are looking for
We are looking for someone who takes pride in being a stonemason.
You should care about the final few millimetres, the quality of a polished edge, the accuracy of a mitre and the standard of work that carries your name. You should be comfortable working as part of a team, willing to support others and prepared to take responsibility for the quality of your own work.
In return, you will be joining a business that values experienced craftspeople, invests in its facilities and is working to build a positive, healthy and professional future within the stone industry.
