Our client, a leading engineering organisation within the defence and aerospace sector, is seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to play a key role in a major long-term development programme.
Joining at the start of an exciting 7-year project, you'll have the opportunity to influence technical strategy, shape engineering processes, and drive the development of advanced actuation and control systems within a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead systems engineering activities across the full product lifecycle.
- Define system requirements, architecture, interfaces, and integration strategies.
- Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams and external suppliers.
- Oversee system verification, validation, and compliance activities.
- Support risk management, design reviews, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For:
- Degree qualified in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering.
- Strong background in aerospace, defence, or other safety-critical industries.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, or similar.
- Knowledge of system integration, architecture development, V&V, and supplier management.
- Familiarity with DO-178 and DO-254 standards.
Desirable:
- MBSE/SysML experience.
- Reliability, safety, or simulation/modelling expertise.
- Project or supplier management qualifications.
