As an Engineering Superintendent in our Serco Marine Services team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of assigned vessels. You’ll help maximise availability and performance, supporting critical Defence operations that make a real difference.
In this role, your expertise will directly contribute to operational excellence and the reliability of maritime services that support national infrastructure and security. Your work will help create a positive impact by ensuring vessels are maintained to the highest standards, enabling teams to deliver safely and effectively every day.
What you’ll do as an Engineering Superintendent
You’ll be entrusted to:

Manage the technical performance, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of assigned vessels

Monitor Class and Flag certification, ensuring surveys and inspections are completed on time

Plan and oversee dry dockings and repairs, including contractor management and specifications

Liaise with operations teams to maximise vessel availability and minimise downtime

Manage and monitor delegated budgets, ensuring best value and financial control

Lead defect resolution processes, working closely with crews, suppliers, and shore-based teams
Does this sound like you?
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

A Class II (Motor) Certificate of Competency or equivalent maritime experience

Strong knowledge of ISM Code, ISO standards, and maritime regulatory frameworks

Experience with planned maintenance systems and technical vessel management

Financial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
