As Waiter/Waitress, you are at the heart of the guest experience, bringing warmth, personality and genuine hospitality to every table.
Working closely with the wider Front of House, Bar and Kitchen teams, you will create an environment where guests feel genuinely welcomed, looked after and excited to return. You’ll combine confident, knowledgeable service with a relaxed and natural approach, making every interaction feel personal.
This is a hands-on role at the heart of Dover Street Counter. We are looking for someone who loves great food and drinks, genuinely enjoys looking after people and takes pride in delivering brilliant hospitality from the first hello to the final goodbye.
Duties
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience through genuine hospitality, warmth and attention to detail.
- Welcome guests to your section and make them feel comfortable and looked after.
- Build a natural connection with guests while remaining professional and attentive.
- Develop excellent knowledge of our food, drinks, ingredients and allergens.
- Confidently explain the menu and make thoughtful food and drink recommendations.
- Take orders accurately and communicate clearly with the kitchen and bar teams.
- Manage your section confidently, ensuring smooth and attentive service throughout the guest journey.
- Read the table and anticipate what guests need without making service feel intrusive.
- Check back with guests and respond quickly to requests or concerns.
- Support responsible and natural upselling through genuine recommendations rather than pressure.
- Maintain high standards of table presentation, cleanliness and organisation.
- Complete opening, preparation and closing duties to a high standard.
- Follow food safety, allergen, health & safety and licensing procedures.
- Communicate clearly with the wider team throughout service.
- Support colleagues wherever needed and contribute to a positive, respectful and energetic working environment.
- Represent the Dover Street Counter brand with pride.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for hospitality, great food, drinks and looking after people.
- Previous waiting experience within a busy, high-quality-driven restaurant is preferred.
- Warm, approachable and naturally engaging.
- Confident speaking with guests and building genuine connections.
- Good food and drinks knowledge, with an eagerness to continue learning.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering great service.
- Organised and confident managing a section during busy services.
- Able to read guests and adapt your style of service to different situations.
- Positive, calm and solutions-focused under pressure.
- A strong team player who enjoys supporting the people around them.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
