Job Purpose
To carry out daily stores operations by accurately inspecting incoming electronic components, picking bespoke production kits, and packaging outgoing dispatches. You will maintain stock accuracy and ESD standards to keep production running smoothly. Prior experience in the electronics industry is required for this role. As part of a small team, you will also provide flexible support across other business areas when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Goods Inwards & Technical Inspection
- Receive, offload, and log incoming deliveries from electronic component suppliers
- Perform detailed physical and visual inspections of incoming components (verifying part numbers, pin counts, polarization, packaging, and condition) against purchase orders and specifications.
- Identify, record, and quarantine non-conforming, damaged, or counterfeit items.
- Book stock accurately into the inventory system and store parts in designated ESD-safe (Electrostatic Discharge) locations where applicable.
Kitting & Production Support
- Accurately pick, assemble, and issue bespoke component kits based on Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical pick lists for production assembly.
- Handle sensitive electronic components using proper ESD precautions and safe handling protocols.
- Monitor stock levels of standard electronic consumables and hardware, alerting management when reorders are needed.
Inventory Control & Cycle Counting
- Perform regular cycle counts and stock checks across unique component SKUs to ensure system accuracy.
- Maintain clear tracking of stock movements, reel/cut-tape remnants, batch codes, and returns.
- Keep storage areas, bins, trays, and racking meticulously organized, clean, and correctly labelled.
Packing & Dispatch
- Carefully package finished electronic assemblies and components using suitable protective packaging (e.g., anti-static bags, bubble wrap, custom boxing) to prevent damage during transit.
- Prepare shipping labels, commercial documentation, and dispatch paperwork, coordinating collections with couriers.
- Ensure all outgoing orders meet strict customer specifications and shipping deadlines.
General Support & Small Team Flexibility
- Maintain ESD standards, health and safety guidelines, and general housekeeping within the stores area at all times.
- Flexible Support: As a valued member of a small business, you may occasionally be asked to support other operational areas—such as light production support, administrative tasks, or dispatch prep—during busy periods.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Previous experience working within an electronics manufacturing, stores, or distribution environment is required.
- Component Knowledge: Sound familiarity with electronic components (e.g., connectors, passives, ICs, wiring, PCBs) and standard part numbering systems.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and accuracy when identifying small parts and verifying complex Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- ESD Awareness: Working knowledge of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling protocols and safe storage practices.
- Technical & Computer Skills: Proficiency with ERP/inventory systems, stock control software, and basic office applications (e.g., MS Excel/Word).
- Adaptability: A practical, "can-do" attitude with the willingness to step up and support other departments in a small business setting.
- Physical Capability: Ability to handle physical stores tasks, including manual handling, lifting, and sorting small components.
