Job Description: Assistant Wedding & Event Coordinator
Karen Rhodes Catering | Lake District
£26,500 per year | Full Time
We are growing fast, and we are looking for the right person to grow with us.
Karen Rhodes Catering is a premium Lake District catering company delivering exceptional food at weddings, corporate events and private occasions across some of the most beautiful venues in the country. We have built a reputation for food that genuinely stands out, a team that cares deeply about what it does, and a standard that never slips.
2026 is a big year for us and 2027 looks like it could be our best yet. As we scale the business, we are looking for an Assistant Wedding & Event Coordinator to support our Wedding Coordinators, both on-site at events and in the office, as our diary continues to fill up.
What you will actually be doing
You will support our Wedding Coordinators across a busy and varied calendar of weddings, corporate hospitality and private events at premium venues across the Lake District and beyond. On event days, you will help set up, run and pack down, making sure every detail is in place and every guest is looked after. Off site, you will be in the office helping with wedding prep paperwork, timelines, supplier coordination and general organisation, keeping everything on track well in advance of the big day.
This is a genuine route into a Wedding Coordinator role. We are looking for someone ambitious enough to want that, and willing to put the work in to get there.
The role is a mix of office days and event days, and by its nature includes regular weekends and evenings, with some long shifts on event days. You will be on your feet for much of the day, so a good level of stamina is important.
We close over Christmas, giving the whole team a proper break at the end of a busy season.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone smiley, warm and genuinely cheerful, the kind of person who lifts the mood of a room and makes clients and colleagues feel at ease. You are meticulous about detail, the sort of person who notices when something is slightly out of place and fixes it without being asked. You are organised, calm under pressure, and comfortable juggling paperwork one day and a live event the next.
You will have at least three years of hospitality experience. Weddings or events experience is a bonus but not required, as full training will be given. You will have a genuine love of food and an appreciation for what goes into an exceptional event. A genuine passion for hospitality will go a long way in this role. You are reliable, a strong communicator, and happy working as part of a close knit team. You will hold a full UK driving licence.
Please do not apply if
- You are not able or willing to work regular weekends and evenings, this is a core part of the role.
- You do not hold a full UK driving licence.
- You do not have a genuine passion for hospitality.
- You are not naturally detail oriented or organised.
- You are not comfortable being on your feet for long shifts on event days.
We would simply rather be honest about what this role is and is not before you invest your time in applying.
What we offer
- A salary of £26,500 per year.
- A 40 hour per week contract with a genuine mix of office days and event days.
- 28 days holiday.
- A pension scheme.
- A clear path to progress into a Wedding Coordinator role as you develop.
- Full training if you are new to weddings specifically.
- The option of a company car in future via a salary sacrifice scheme.
- We close over Christmas, so you can count on a proper break when the season ends.
- A close knit, talented team and the chance to be part of a business scaling with real ambition.
The interview process
We keep this simple. If your application catches our eye, we will invite you to come and meet us in person. We will talk through the role, what we are looking for, and go from there.
