Operations and Maintenance Assistant – Anglesey Sea Zoo
Brynsiencyn, Anglesey | £12.71 per hour/£26,437 pro rata to start with, increases in line with pay reviews | Permanent, 2-3 days per week
Do you love variety, teamwork and working in a unique environment? Anglesey Sea Zoo, one of Anglesey’s star attractions, is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Operations and Maintenance Assistant to support our busy retail and food outlets and maintenance upkeep of our site.
The role
To ensure the Sea Zoo site remains clean, safe and well-presented through the completion of general maintenance, basic repair tasks and to support across other operations. departments when necessary:
- Carry out daily litter picking across the site
- Weeding
- Sweep general areas and maintain walkways
- Complete visual safety checks of key public areas, including the marquee, mini golf, boating pond, bouncy castle, cafe, shop, zoo and walkways and issue repairs where possible and ensure the same are reported.
- Be a keyholder, locking and unlocking gates, the buildings and have shared responsibility for setting security systems.
- Log any maintenance issues and report any urgent concerns to the duty manager.
- Emptying internal and external bins, sorting recycling.
- Decorating of buildings, internally and externally.
- Perform general upkeep tasks
- Support projects by helping set up areas and preparing spaces and assisting contractors.
- Assisting in Admissions and the shop when necessary.
- Cross departmental support
Hours & working pattern
- 2-3 days per week between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Sunday, on a rota
- Initial seasonal contract until end of October - permanent contract with reduced hours in winter, aligned to seasonal opening times available for the right candidate.

- Comfortable with basic food handling and prep (training provided)
- Happy to work flexibly across departments and various start and finish times
- Reliable, team-oriented and hands-on
