About the Role
SpaceXAI is seeking a Backend Engineer – API with a strong understanding of building highly scalable and reliable production infrastructure.
The company's backend infrastructure is primarily written in Rust, so experience with compiled languages such as Rust, C++ or Go is highly valuable.
In this role, you will work on the API infrastructure that delivers SpaceXAI's AI models to developers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Build and develop the SpaceXAI API serving AI models to developers worldwide.
Own the end-to-end infrastructure supporting high-throughput AI inference.
Build systems capable of handling billions of tokens per minute.
Ensure low latency and high availability across API services.
Work on model serving infrastructure and request routing.
Contribute to SDK development.
Design and manage rate-limiting systems.
Improve observability and system reliability.
Build infrastructure that can scale efficiently with growing demand.
Basic Qualifications
Expert knowledge of Rust or C++.
Experience designing, implementing and maintaining reliable, horizontally scalable distributed systems.
Strong understanding of service observability and reliability best practices.
Experience working with databases such as:
PostgreSQL
ClickHouse
MongoDB
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience with LLM inference engines and serving frameworks, including SGLang, TensorRT or vLLM.
Experience designing or building with agent SDKs and agent orchestration frameworks.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and containerized applications.
Expert knowledge of gRPC, including:
Unary
Response streaming
Bi-directional streaming
REST mapping
