The opportunity

Key responsibilities
- Responsible for the monthly production of the management and financial accounts
- Review and analysis of the monthly performance against historical data, budget and forecast
- Investigation and resolution of key differences
- Provide financial and management reports for different business stakeholders
- Responsible for day-to-day management of the Accounts Assistant
Accounting
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring they are accurate and robust and include relevant commentary
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and substantiated, investigating any variances
- Review and approve all inputs into the general ledger by the Accounts Assistants
- Accurate calculation of accruals and prepayments in line with accounting standards and internal policies and procedures
- Ensure all VAT, tax and payroll is calculated correctly and paid on time
- Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and annual audits
Reporting
- Provide the inputs to reports for internal and external stakeholders, including completing the first level review
- Assist in the preparation of management information and regulatory reports
- Prepare ad hoc reports as and when required
People
- Manage the Accounts Assistants on a day to day basis
- Provide guidance and coaching to the team on areas of development
- Ensure the team meet their deadlines
Other
- Able to work extra hours when needed to help during busy times, such as month end, year end or to cover sickness
- Be flexible to work evenings and weekends, with advance notice, when needed

- Adapt to new ways of working and take on board ideas to work smarter
- Minimum professional qualification, studying AAT level 4 or CIMA Operational Level
- Has a strong practical knowledge of advanced formula use within excel

Full time role working 35 hours per week
Salary up to £33,000 per annum, depending on experience
