Equilibrium is more than just a Chartered Financial Planning company, we're an award winning, independent firm based in Handforth, Cheshire, with one clear purpose: making people's lives better. Whether it's our clients, our team, our community, or anyone who crosses our path. We believe in creating a positive impact in everything we do. Plus, we're proudly managing over £1.4bn in assets for our clients. As we embark on an ambitious acquisitions strategy, we're entering an exciting new chapter that will see our business grow significantly, making it a great time to join our team!
Finding the right people is the secret to our success. We're incredibly proud of our amazing team and their dedication to excellence. Join us and you'll enjoy fantastic benefits, a challenging, exciting role, with boundless opportunities for growth and development. We're serious about what we do, we don't take ourselves too seriously though, and make time for fun along the way too!
Our Paraplanner role sits behind the scenes, working closely with our Client Managers to prepare the research, analysis, and documentation that underpins the advice our clients receive. This is a non-client facing role, suited to someone who doesn't want direct client contact as part of their day to day work. You'll be a trusted partner to your Client Manager, giving them the confidence that the groundwork is accurate, compliant, and ready to support great client outcomes.
To achieve this, our Paraplanner will:
- Prepare research, analysis, and recommendations across pensions, investments, and protection, tailored to individual client circumstances and objectives.
-
Produce clear, accurate, and compliant suitability reports, ensuring recommendations are well evidenced and easy for clients to understand.
-
Work closely with Client Managers to understand client objectives, ask the right questions, and turn these into sound recommendations.
-
Maintain accurate and up to date records of research and recommendations, in line with Equilibrium's compliance and quality standards.
-
Keep up to date with regulatory changes, product developments, and market conditions, applying this knowledge to research and reports.
-
Build strong working relationships with Client Managers and Financial Planners, providing support and flagging any issues or opportunities you identify.
-
Contribute to the continuous improvement of paraplanning processes and templates, helping the wider team work more efficiently.
-
Maintain the confidentiality and security of client information at all times.
Qualifications and experience:
- Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or an equivalent qualification). If progressing to the CII Level 6 Advanced Diploma and Chartered status is one of your goals, we'll support you by covering the cost of your exams and study materials, as well as providing paid study and exam leave.
-
Proven experience working in a paraplanning role, with a strong understanding of pensions, investments, and protection.
At Equilibrium, we live our values through the following:
- Integrity - we treat everyone with respect, take responsibility for ourselves and what we do, and are open and authentic in all of our dealings.
-
Growth - we foster a growth mindset, with a curiosity and desire to learn and grow both professionally and personally.
-
Simplicity - we look for the clearest path to the best outcome, being adaptable in our approach. We are clear communicators with the ability to land a message appropriate to our audience.
-
Excellence - we will consistently work to high standards, showing great care and attention to detail in everything that we do.

Helping people live the lives they want to live, look after those they love, and leave powerful legacies is part of the day job. We genuinely want to create more choices and more freedom for our clients, ultimately making their lives, and the lives of those around them, better.
To support your professional development, we cover the costs of study materials and exam fees for relevant qualifications. Additionally, we offer paid study and exam leave.
To help you maintain a healthy work-life balance, we offer a generous annual leave package, alongside a flexible working framework that allows team members to work from home where appropriate and flex their working hours in line with business requirements.
We also provide the benefits you'd expect from an award winning company, including bonuses, pension, death in service, income protection, and more.
