Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced BMU/Cradle Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technical, safety‑critical environment and has hands-on experience with façade access equipment, permanent access systems, and electrical fault-finding on BMUs and suspended access cradles.
You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, testing, and commissioning of BMUs and cradle systems across a variety of commercial buildings. This is a key role ensuring equipment safety, compliance, and operational reliability for our clients.
Responsibilities
- BMU maintenance — Carry out planned preventative maintenance on BMUs, cradles, and associated lifting equipment.
- Electrical diagnostics — Perform electrical fault-finding, repairs, and component replacements.
- LOLER compliance — Conduct statutory inspections and testing in line with LOLER and relevant British Standards.
- System commissioning — Support installation and commissioning of new façade access systems.
- Technical reporting — Produce accurate service reports, inspection documents, and compliance records.
- Client support — Communicate effectively with clients regarding equipment status, repairs, and recommendations.
Requirements
- Electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Proven experience working on BMUs, cradles, or lifting/hoisting equipment.
- Strong understanding of control panels, PLC, motors, limit switches, wiring diagrams, and safety circuits.
- Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, and relevant industry standards.
- Ability to work at height and in outdoor conditions.
- SMSTS or SSSTS would be advantage
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential for safety reporting and client interaction.
- Full UK driving licence.
Pay: £45,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
