Hardwick Hall Hotel is currently looking for an experienced Night Porter to join our team. Set within 120 acres of stunning parkland in the heart of County Durham, and surrounded by the beautiful Hardwick Country Park, our hotel offers a unique and luxurious guest experience.
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented individual with a positive, can-do attitude. You will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and committed to maintaining high standards at all times. This role requires someone who is confident working independently overnight while also being a supportive team player.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing a warm welcome to late-arriving guests and assisting with early departures
- Delivering excellent customer service and sharing knowledge of hotel facilities
- Carrying out night security checks to ensure guest safety and site security
- Handling switchboard, emails, and guest enquiries professionally
- Completing night audit, cash handling, and basic administrative tasks
- Supporting bar service for residents in line with licensing laws
- Preparing morning services such as newspapers and wake-up calls
- Cleaning public areas and assisting with meeting/event room setup
- Preparing room service in line with health and safety standards
About You:
- Previous customer service experience (cash handling preferred)
- Confident working alone, including in a busy bar environment
- Comfortable working night shifts and staying alert
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
- Basic IT skills
- Calm and professional under pressure, with the ability to manage challenging situations
