Job Title: Barista/ Bar staff

ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Barista at Sgwd Gwladys, you’ll be responsible for creating exceptional coffee and beverage experiences while delivering warm, friendly service to every guest. As we’re a busy restaurant and café in the heart of the waterfall country, you’ll also support the wider front of house team to ensure every customer receives outstanding hospitality from the moment they arrive.
Key Responsibilities
Coffee & Beverage Preparation
- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based coffees, teas and speciality drinks to a consistent standard.
- Ensure all drinks are presented beautifully and served promptly.
- Maintain and clean coffee machines, grinders and other equipment throughout the day.
- Monitor coffee quality, milk texture and extraction to ensure consistency.
Customer Service
- Welcome every guest with a friendly and positive attitude.
- Take customer orders accurately using the POS system.
- Make menu recommendations and answer questions about food, drinks and allergens.
- Resolve customer queries professionally and escalate concerns where necessary.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat visits.
Front of House Support
- Assist with food running and table service during busy periods.
- Keep counters, displays and customer areas clean, tidy and well stocked.
- Replenish cakes, pastries and retail products.
- Support opening and closing procedures.
Food Safety & Hygiene
- Follow all Food Hygiene and HACCP procedures.
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned and sanitised to company standards.
- Rotate stock correctly using FIFO (First In, First Out).
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and food safety practices.
Teamwork
- Work closely with kitchen and front of house staff to deliver smooth service.
- Support colleagues during peak trading times.
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude at all times.
- Attend training sessions and continuously improve coffee knowledge and customer service skills.

- Good attention to detail.
- Flexible to work weekends, bank holidays and busy seasonal periods.
Desirable
- Previous barista or Hospitality experience.
- Experience using commercial espresso machines.
- Food Hygiene Level 2 (training can be provided).
- Experience using electronic till/POS systems.
Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
