About the role
Instruct Construction Group Ltd delivers high-quality HMO works, refurbishments, rear/side extensions and internal renovations across the East Midlands. We’re looking for a reliable Construction Joiner who can complete carpentry/joinery work to a high standard, work cleanly in renovation environments, and keep projects moving with minimal supervision.
This suits someone who is organised, takes pride in neat finishing, and can work efficiently alongside other trades.
Typical work you’ll be doing
- 1st fix and 2nd fix joinery on renovation projects and HMOs
- Studwork, partitions, boxing-in, and general timber works
- Hanging doors, fitting frames/architraves/skirts, ironmongery
- Kitchen fitting support (where required) and making good
- Floor repairs/replacements (where required) and internal timber repairs
- Small structural carpentry tasks where competent (e.g., strengthening, repairs)
- Snagging and finishing touches to completed rooms
- Keeping work areas tidy, protecting finished surfaces, and working safely
Pay
- £210 per day
- Paid monthly (self-employed subcontract basis)
- Day rate is paid for attending site hours as scheduled
Hours / working pattern
- Monday to Friday: 7:00am–3:00pm
- Occasional Saturdays: 7:00am–1:00pm (when required)
- You must be on site for these hours to receive your day rate
Must-have requirements (please only apply if you meet these)
- Must have your own van and be able to drive (essential – multiple sites across NG/DE)
- Must have your own joinery tools suitable for 1st/2nd fix work
- Proven domestic joinery experience (refurbs/HMOs/extensions preferred)
- Reliable timekeeping and able to consistently start at 7:00am
- Able to work to a good finish and hit programme deadlines
- Own PPE (minimum: safety boots and hi-vis)
- Right to work in the UK (evidence requested after initial contact)
Desirable (not essential, but helps your application)
- NVQ / City & Guilds in Carpentry & Joinery (or time-served)
- CSCS card
- Asbestos Awareness / Health & Safety training
- First Aid
