About Kennelbuild
Kennelbuild is a fast-growing specialist construction company delivering high-quality, purpose-built facilities for a client base that includes the Ministry of Defence, UK police forces and large national charities. To reduce our reliance on subcontractors and build our in-house trades capability, we are looking for a qualified Electrician to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an opportunity to become part of a growing team, delivering electrical work directly across our sites and helping to shape how electrical work is carried out in-house as the business expands.
The Role
Reporting to the Contracts Manager you will carry out first and second fix electrical installations, testing and inspection across Kennelbuild's construction sites, working to drawings and specifications to a high standard. Our projects include specialist and secure environments and are located across the UK, so you must be willing to work away from home, including overnight stays, as required by the project programme.
You will work closely with site managers and other trades to ensure electrical work is delivered safely, on time and to specification, while helping to reduce the business's reliance on subcontracted electrical labour.
Along side installation work, you will also be expected to undertake small works, and maintenance to our existing client base. Your role will be pivotal in the development of the Facilitates Management offering, Kennel Maintain.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical installation
● Carry out first and second fix electrical installations across new-build and refurbishment projects.
● Carry out maintenance to our existing client base, working to ensure compliance and grow the profile of the company.
● Install containment, cable management, distribution boards and associated equipment.
● Wire and connect power, lighting, small power and fire alarm systems in line with drawings and specifications.
Testing, inspection & compliance
● Test, inspect and certify electrical installations in accordance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).
● Complete accurate certification, test results and handover documentation.
● Identify and rectify faults safely and efficiently.
● Ensure all work complies with current regulations and site health & safety requirements.
Site delivery & coordination
● Read and work from electrical drawings, schematics and specifications.
● Liaise with site managers, other trades and clients to keep work coordinated and on programme.
● Maintain a safe, tidy and compliant work area at all times.
● Travel to and work away from Kennelbuild's sites nationwide as required, including overnight stays.
Materials & equipment
● Order and manage materials required for electrical works on site.
● Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring safe and correct use at all times.
● Support the reduction of subcontractor reliance by delivering electrical work directly, in-house.
Essential Skills & Experience
● Time-served as qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprenticeship).
● City and guilds 2391 or similar (2395 or 2394)
● Current 18th Edition BS 7671 Wiring Regulations qualification.
● Proven experience of first and second fix electrical installation within construction or commercial environments.
● Experience testing, inspecting and certifying electrical installations.
● Sound understanding of health & safety requirements on construction sites.
● A full UK driving licence.
● Willingness and ability to work away from home, including overnight stays, as project needs require.
Desirable Skills & Experience
● Level 3 installation of small scale solar photovoltaic systems, City and Guilds 2922-34 or 2399-15
● City and guilds level 3 award in design and installation of small electrical energy storage systems
● Suitable qualification for the installation of commercial fire alarm systems
● ECS/JIB Gold Card, or working towards one.
● Experience in mechanical installation, duct work, MVHR, small plumbing (domestic scale)
● Experience with fire alarm, emergency lighting, or small power and data installations.
● A valid CSCS card.
● First Aid at Work certificate.

Pay: £21.00-£27.00 per hour
