Production Shift Supervisor – Wood Wool UK
Location: Worcestershire
Shift: 2pm - 10pm
Pay: £31,000 - £34,000 per year (approx. £15 - £16.50 per hour)
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and reliable Production Shift Supervisor to lead our wood wool manufacturing operations during the afternoon shift. In this role, you will operate our production machinery, oversee a small team, and keep the shift running smoothly from start to finish. Your mechanical know-how and leadership will be vital in keeping downtime to a minimum and maintaining a steady, efficient pace throughout the shift. This position offers a genuine opportunity to take real ownership of a shift within a growing British manufacturing business.
Responsibilities
- Operate the wood wool machine, including loading timber and keeping production running throughout the shift
- Supervise a team of three staff who bag and palletise wood wool as it comes off the line
- Identify and fix mechanical breakdowns as they happen, minimising downtime
- Monitor output and quality throughout the shift, flagging any issues early
- Ensure staff follow correct safety procedures and handle materials and machinery safely
- Keep basic records of production output and any breakdowns or issues during the shift
- Support and guide team members, particularly when things go wrong mid-shift
Requirements
- Proven experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- Genuine mechanical bias, confident diagnosing and fixing equipment issues without waiting on external maintenance
- Comfortable supervising and directing a small team
- Reliable and able to stay calm and solutions-focused when machinery breaks down
- Good communication skills, able to keep the team informed and on task
- Willing and able to commit to a fixed 2pm-10pm shift pattern
