10 Hours per Week | School-Based Provision
Study Mind is seeking an experienced, patient and engaging male SEN Tutor to support a Year 1 pupil at Stourfield Infant School in Bournemouth.
This role is ideal for a tutor with experience supporting young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, PDA profiles, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, and challenging behaviour. The successful tutor will prioritise relationship-building and engagement before introducing learning, using the pupil's interests to gradually develop confidence and access to education.
About the Student
The pupil is a bright and articulate 6-year-old currently working below age-related expectations across core subjects. He has experienced increasing difficulties accessing the classroom environment and requires consistent adult support to engage with learning.
He has recently been diagnosed with Combined ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder with a PDA profile, and anxiety, and is currently accessing support through school-based SEN provision.
Despite his challenges, he has many strengths and responds exceptionally well to trusted adults who take a calm, relational approach.

Key Requirements
The successful tutor will:
- Have experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, PDA and anxiety
- Be confident managing dysregulation, challenging behaviour and school avoidance
- Understand co-regulation approaches and trauma-informed practice
- Be skilled at building trust and positive relationships with children who may be reluctant to engage
- Deliver highly personalised, active and interest-led learning
- Use visual supports, predictable routines and sensory strategies effectively
- Be comfortable working closely alongside school staff and parents
Tuition Details
Location: Stourfield Infant School, Bournemouth
Hours: 10 hours per week
Schedule: 2 hours per day across 5 days per week (times to be agreed)
Start Date: 22nd June 2026
End Date: 25th September 2026
Setting: School-based, 1:1 provision
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Experience working with SEN pupils in education, tutoring or therapeutic settings
- Ability to provide engaging, active and flexible learning opportunities
- Strong communication and behaviour support skills
- Reliability, patience and resilience
Additional Information
The commissioner has specifically requested a tutor who can focus on relationship-building first, introducing learning gradually through the pupil's interests and preferred activities. Success in this role will come through creating a safe, predictable and enjoyable learning environment where the pupil feels understood, valued and able to succeed.
To arrange sessions, the successful tutor will liaise directly with the school's designated contact.
