Job Purpose
To undertake effective workplace assessment, coaching and progress reviews for apprentices undertaking Engineering and Manufacturing apprenticeship standards. The role will support apprentices to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to successfully complete their apprenticeship and progress through to End Point Assessment.
The postholder will work closely with employers and curriculum teams to ensure apprentices receive a high-quality learning experience, remain on track with planned progress and achieve timely success.
This role will primarily support apprentices on the following apprenticeship standards:
· Level 3 Process Industry Manufacturing Technician
· Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician
· Compressed Air & Vacuum Technician
The role is home based with regular national travel to employer sites.
Key Accountabilities:
· Ensure consistency and compliance with internal and external policies, procedures and apprenticeship funding requirements.
· Carry out effective learner inductions, initial assessments and diagnostics to ensure apprentices are enrolled onto the correct programme and receive appropriate support.
· Conduct regular workplace assessment visits, learner reviews and progress monitoring activities in line with organisational KPI expectations.
· Assess and coach apprentices against apprenticeship standard requirements, ensuring robust evidence collection and progression of knowledge, skills and behaviours.
· Support apprentices to develop workplace competence and prepare effectively for End Point Assessment.
· Work closely with programme tutors to support learners with knowledge gaps, assignments, preparation for tests and overall knowledge retention.
· Maintain accurate, compliant and timely learner records using e-portfolio and learner management systems.
· Monitor and review off-the-job training activity to ensure compliance and planned progress.
· Provide high-quality Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) throughout the apprenticeship journey.
· Build strong working relationships with employers to support learner progression, attendance, performance and achievement.
· Participate in standardisation, moderation, IQA and quality improvement activities.
· Implement developmental feedback arising from observations, quality reviews, IQA sampling and standardisation activities.
· Promote safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity and inclusion and learner wellbeing at all times.
· Adopt and utilise digital technologies, remote learning tools and e-portfolio systems to enhance learner engagement and support.
· Maintain own Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and occupational competency within manufacturing and engineering sectors.
· Provide timely reports, updates and information requested by the Quality and Compliance team or management.

Knowledge Skills and Qualifications
Essential
· Industry relevant qualification at Level 3 or above (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
· Experience within manufacturing, process operations or engineering maintenance environments.
· Experience assessing, coaching or mentoring individuals in the workplace.
· Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
· Ability to manage a caseload of apprentices across multiple employer sites.
· Strong organisational and IT skills.
· Knowledge of health & safety practices within engineering/manufacturing environments.
· Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
Desired
· TAQA/A1/CAVA Assessor qualification (or equivalent).
· Current or previous experience as an Assessor, Skills Coach or Workplace Assessor within a college or training provider.
· Experience working with apprenticeships and apprenticeship standards.
· Knowledge of:
· Level 3 Process Industry Manufacturing Technician
· Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician
· Compressed Air & Vacuum Technician standards
· IQA qualification.
· Experience using e-portfolio systems such as Smart Assessor, OneFile or Bud.
· Understanding of Ofsted Education Inspection Framework and apprenticeship compliance requirements.
· This role is subject to a full enhanced DBS check.
