Overview:
Tour Assistant – New Year Event (Temporary)
Location: Central London
Contract: Temporary – 27 December to 4 January (inclusive)
Pay: Competitive (details provided at interview)
Join us for one of London's biggest New Year events
We're looking for enthusiastic, confident and reliable young adults to support visiting American performance groups during their stay in London for the London Parade.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major international event, working alongside large groups of American high school and college performers as they experience London and prepare for their New Year's Day performance.
This is not a tour guide position. Instead, you'll accompany your allocated group throughout their visit, providing support, helping keep the itinerary running smoothly, and acting as the main point of contact between the group and our Operations Team.
About the Role
Each Tour Assistant is assigned to one visiting group, which can range from 60 to over 200 participants.
From the moment they arrive until they depart, you'll be with your group throughout their stay. You'll accompany them on excursions across London, travel with them to scheduled activities, remain based with them at their Central London hotel, and support them throughout the London Parade—including walking alongside your group during the parade itself.
Although there will be periods of downtime, you are effectively on call throughout the event, so flexibility, commitment and a proactive attitude are essential.
You must be available for the full event period from 27 December to 4 January inclusive. Due to the nature of the role, we cannot consider applicants with partial availability.
Responsibilities
- Accompany your assigned group throughout their stay in London.
- Stay with the group at their Central London hotel and support them throughout the week.
- Attend all scheduled excursions, activities and events with your group.
- Support the group during the London Parade, including accompanying them on the parade route.
- Be a friendly, approachable and reassuring presence for students and group leaders.
- Assist with daily logistics, schedules and meeting points.
- Communicate regularly with the Operations Team and report any issues promptly.
- Remain calm and professional when dealing with unexpected situations or changes to plans.
- Help ensure the group has a safe, enjoyable and well-organised experience.
About You
We're looking for people who are:
- University aged.
- Confident, outgoing and enthusiastic.
- Reliable, committed and highly organised.
- Comfortable taking responsibility and working independently.
- Excellent communicators who enjoy working with people.
- Calm under pressure and able to solve problems quickly.
- Adaptable and able to respond positively to changing situations.
- Professional, approachable and able to build rapport with young people and group leaders alike.
- Happy working flexible and sometimes long days as part of a busy event.
What You'll Gain
- A unique opportunity to be part of one of London's most exciting annual events.
- The chance to develop leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- A fun, fast-paced and rewarding working environment.
If you're looking for an unforgettable week, enjoy working with people and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to hear from you.
