The Role
This is a varied and hands-on position suitable for a trained upholsterer who is happy to work across a range of duties. While full upholstery work is part of the role, the workload can vary - meaning you'll sometimes be involved in other areas like stripping furniture, prepping frames, or supporting with general workshop and project tasks. There is occasional overnight work involved.
Duties
- Carry out upholstery tasks including stripping, webbing, padding, and recovering (traditional and/or modern)
-Prepare furniture frames and materials for upholstery
- Assist with workshop organisation and maintenance
- Support other team members with project work , (light lifting, deliveries)
- Maintain a tidy, safe working environment - Work flexibly depending on project needs
- Operate and maintain various hand tools and power tools to perform tasks efficiently. - Participate in the fabrication of components, adhering to safety standards and quality control measures. -
-Assist with assembly tasks, ensuring that all parts fit together correctly and function as intended. -
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
Qualifications
Trained in upholstery (formally or through experience
- Proven mechanical knowledge with practical experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Experience in sewing is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Background in fabrication processes is preferred.
- Previous warehouse experience is beneficial, demonstrating familiarity with inventory management practices.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to specified weight limits) safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
