Overview
We are on the lookout for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our team in delivering exceptional food here at the Stump. The Stump has become a huge success and is seen as one of the ‘go to’ pubs in the Cotswolds, known for its legendary pizza and outstanding Italian dishes with exciting weekly specials. As well as the busy pub we have twelve bedrooms with high occupancy, a private event barn and a takeaway shack, meaning there’s never a dull day here. We are looking for a hands-on leader with a serious passion for food and a strict eye for safety and quality. You will run the entire kitchen, making sure every plate looks and tastes amazing. You’ll also help design the menu, build a great team, and create a welcoming vibe for everyone in the building.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive working environment
- Oversee daily food preparation and cooking activities to ensure quality standards are met or exceeded
- Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and current trends
- Manage food safety and always ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Monitor stock levels, ordering, stock taking and control food costs effectively
- Train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff to promote growth and high performance
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen in accordance with hygiene standards
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure a smooth service delivery
- Handle customer feedback related to food quality and address any concerns promptly
- Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standard of presentation and taste
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Head Chef within a busy restaurant
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent organisational skills
- Experience in menu development and cost control measures
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Exceptional communication skills to effectively lead the kitchen team and collaborate with other departments
Pay: £50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
