We are currently recruiting a qualified Deputy SENCO to join a specialist SEMH school in West Drayton from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and dedicated teacher to support the SENCO in leading provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities within a specialist setting. You'll work closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The role will include:
- Supporting the SENCO in the day-to-day management of SEND provision across the school
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure pupils' individual needs are effectively met
- Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of EHCPs and support plans
- Monitoring pupil progress and supporting high-quality, inclusive teaching practices
- Liaising with parents, carers, and external professionals to coordinate appropriate support
- Supporting staff with strategies to promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
- Helping to ensure the school meets its statutory responsibilities in relation to SEND
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally within an SEMH or specialist school setting
- A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, families, and external agencies
- A calm, resilient, and proactive approach with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people with additional needs
Training and ongoing support will be provided, with opportunities for continued professional development.
