Salary - Around £39,000 (depending on experience)

You will be opted into the Fettes College Pension Plan after 3 months’ service. This scheme is a money purchase one, operating as a salary exchange plan. The College will contribute a minimum of 8% of your basic annual salary to the Plan and you will be required to contribute a minimum of 2% of basic annual salary. If you contribute 10% or more, the College will contribute 12%.

The team work shifts, following a 4-week rolling rota (39 hours per week). The role holder will be required to work shifts of varying lengths (rotas include both short and long shifts) and 2 weekends per month. 6 weeks paid holidays (taken during school holidays).
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled nurse to join our Medical Centre team, based within the Allardice Centre.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide expert medical care and advice to students throughout the School. The Medical Centre is an integral part of our sector-leading pastoral care. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a vibrant and welcoming school community.

The Ideal Candidate
Person Specification
Essential

Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.

Hold a minimum of 2 years’ experience in any 2 of the nursing areas below:

General practice
-
A&E
-
Pediatrics
-
Mental health
-
Sports and trauma
-
Vaccination Teams
-
Public Health (School Nursing/Health Visiting).
-
Familiar with Child Protection and Safeguarding Governance (GIRFEC, Child protection/safeguarding legislation).
-
Have experience of working with children and young people.
-
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and accurate record keeping skills.
-
Compassionate, caring and empathetic.
-
Have experience of medicine management, in line with NMC Guidelines, and the ability to share this knowledge across the wider school.
-
Have an in-depth understanding of the various mental health challenges affecting children and young people.
-
Have the ability to use clinical judgement relating to maintaining student confidentiality.
-
Have a sound knowledge of health promotion in areas affecting children and young people.
-
Experienced in the use of Microsoft 365 and Teams/Zoom.
Desirable

Have experience of working in a community / school nursing environment.

Experienced in the use of iSams and familiar with Return2Play Guidelines.

Hold professional qualifications in other areas:
