About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and hardworking Fryer / Supervisor to join our busy and fast-paced chip shop team. You Must be over the age of 18, ideally over the age of 21. This is a hands-on role that combines food preparation, customer service, team support, and supervisory responsibilities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the business, ensuring food is prepared to a high standard, customers receive excellent service, and the shop runs smoothly during opening and closing shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook food to company standards.
- Carry out morning preparation and setup tasks.
- Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
Customer Service
- Serve customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues where appropriate.
- Maintain a welcoming and positive customer experience.
Shop Operations
- Take responsibility for opening and closing the shop, including key holder duties.
- Complete end-of-day cleaning and closing procedures.
- Ensure the shop is clean, organised, and ready for service at all times.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak trading periods.
Team Leadership
- Support and supervise team members during shifts.
- Promote a positive, productive, and team-focused working environment.
- Assist with training and mentoring staff when required.
- Work collaboratively with management to ensure operational excellence.
Business Development
- Assist the Back of House Manager with social media activity and content.
- Help promote the business and contribute ideas to drive sales growth.
- Take a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
Person SpecificationEssential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within the food service industry (chip shop, takeaway, restaurant, or similar environment).
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
- Comfortable working under pressure in a busy environment.
Desirable
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience operating frying equipment in a fish and chip shop.
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms for business promotion.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
