Overview
As Assistant Manager, you’ll support the General Manager to deliver excellent, consistent service and smooth day-to-day operations. You’ll act as a role model for the team, support training and development, and help maintain brand and safety standards.
Key responsibilities

Support GM in the daily running of the pub and lead in their absence

Deliver consistent customer service and ensure high standards across the venue

Coach, train and develop the team; run inductions and support performance reviews

Manage rotas, support recruitment and ensure on-shift cover
-
Oversee cash handling, till reconciliation and basic stock control

Uphold licensing, health & safety and food‑hygiene standards
-
Assist with local events and community activities to drive trade
Person specification — essential

Management or supervisory experience in pubs, bars or casual dining

Strong people skills and a role-model approach to leadership

Reliable, adaptable and able to think on your feet during busy shifts

Commitment to delivering consistently high standards for customers and teams

Right to work in the UK; available for evenings and weekends
Desirable

Experience in community pubs or casual dining

Basic food-safety qualification or willingness to obtain

Familiarity with EPOS systems
