Job Overview
Nationwide Fencing Services Ltd is seeking a highly analytical and commercially focused Management Accountant to support the financial performance of the business. This role is critical in providing detailed project-level financial reporting, with a strong emphasis on profit and loss analysis across all contracts.
The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying where the company is making or losing money, improving cost control, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities : Financial Reporting & Analysis
· Prepare monthly management accounts, including full profit and loss statements.
· Produce detailed project-level P&L reports for all fencing contracts.
· Analyse gross margins by project, client, and contract type.
· Identify trends, variances, and areas of financial risk or opportunity.
Project Costing & Profitability
· Track and monitor project costs including labour, materials, subcontractors, and overhead allocation.
· Work closely with operations and project managers to ensure accurate cost capture.
· Provide clear insight into which projects are profitable and which are loss-making.
· Develop and maintain job costing systems to improve accuracy and transparency.
Budgeting & Forecasting
· Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
· Produce project cash flow forecasts and profitability projections.
· Monitor actual performance against budgets and highlight key variances.
Business Performance Insight
· Deliver actionable financial insights to senior management.
· Identify inefficiencies, cost overruns, and opportunities to improve margins.
· Support pricing decisions and tender evaluations with financial analysis.
Controls & Processes
· Improve financial systems and reporting processes, particularly around project accounting.
· Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
· Support internal controls and compliance procedures.
Key Skills & Experience
· Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA or equivalent).
· Strong experience in management accounting within construction, contracting, or project-based environments (ideally fencing, infrastructure, or similar).
· Proven experience producing project-level profit and loss analysis.
· Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software.
· Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
· Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
