Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Coffee Shop Assistant to join our vibrant team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving a variety of beverages and food items, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, good organisational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting. Previous experience in a similar role is essential. This is a full time position from 8am till 4pm over 5 days as per rota, every Sunday off but Saturdays are included. The role includes all aspects, food prep, serving customers, taking orders, cash handling and clearing & cleaning.
You must be efficient and able to work in a small team & must be reliable.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages.
- Assist customers with their orders in a courteous and professional manner
- Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, preparing soups etc.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Maintain cleanliness of the counter, seating areas, and kitchen equipment throughout the day.
- Manage cash register operations accurately and efficiently
- Restock supplies and organise stock levels to ensure smooth operation during busy periods
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers and addressing their needs promptly
Skills
- Knowledge of food safety procedures and hygiene standards
- Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment
- Basic food preparation skills for assembling simple food items
- Good numerical skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Strong time management abilities to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage positively with customers and team members
- Organised approach to work with attention to detail to ensure high standards of cleanliness and service
