Overview
We are seeking a motivated Junior Design Engineer to join our innovative technical design team. In this role, you will support the design and development of new and existing light products by producing accurate CAD data, documentation and technical specifications for manufacture, whilst developing design and engineering capability within a collaborative product development environment.
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, based in Moorside Road, Winchester.
£28,000 to £30,000 per annum depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Participate in design and development of new and existing products
- Working with the Design & Technical team to maintain the integrity of the existing product range
- Assist in the development of new and existing products under guidance from senior engineers
- Produce 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
- Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical files
- Create basic manufacturing specifications and production guides
- Support the creation of product documentation, installation guides, and supporting technical information
- Participate in design and development reviews, contributing ideas and technical input
- Assist with prototyping, sample inspection, and basic product testing
- Support prototyping activities including 3D printing and model preparation
- Liaise with internal teams (production, quality, procurement) to clarify design intent
- Ensure designs align with internal standards and basic industry requirements
- Maintain document and PDM control, in line with company processes
- Provide technical support to ongoing projects as required
Experience
- Degree or HND in Product Design, Design Engineering, or related discipline
- Graduate or early career engineer with 0–3 years’ experience
- Competence in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar) and 2D technical drawing
Knowledge & Skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes
- Awareness of fundamental engineering principles and design for manufacture (DFM)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and graphical presentation tools
- Willingness to learn industry standards (e.g. UL, CE)
- Hands-on practical skills to support prototyping and testing
