Overview
We are seeking a reliable and versatile Part Time Handyperson to support maintenance and repair tasks across our premises. This role is ideal for individuals with a broad skill set in mechanical, electrical, and general maintenance work. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities, ensuring safety, functionality, and aesthetic standards are maintained. The position offers flexible hours suitable for those looking to supplement their income while demonstrating strong organisational and technical abilities.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities
- Repair and replace damaged or malfunctioning components using appropriate tools and techniques
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams to facilitate repairs
- Perform welding tasks as required to mend metal structures or components
- Manage electrical systems, including troubleshooting electrical faults and replacing wiring or fixtures where necessary
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs undertaken
- Assist with the installation of new equipment or infrastructure upgrades
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and organisational standards
- Supervise junior staff or contractors when necessary, providing guidance on technical procedures
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management, prioritising urgent issues
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in general maintenance tasks
- Proficiency in reading schematics and understanding electrical diagrams
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is desirable but not essential
- Skilled in welding techniques for metal repairs
- Electrical experience including wiring, circuit testing, and troubleshooting
- Ability to perform maintenance tasks independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good command of English, both written and verbal, for documentation and communication purposes
- Supervising experience is advantageous for overseeing other team members or contractors
- Customer service skills to effectively liaise with internal teams or external clients when required
- Leadership qualities to manage multiple tasks efficiently and motivate others when needed
