Role Overview
We are seeking experienced and compassionate Health Care Assistants to join our dedicated team supporting a lady with a spinal cord injury in her own home in the CW6 (Ridley) area. This is a rural location, so a driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.
She is an engaging, motivated individual who is able to direct her own care and is very focused on her rehabilitation and physiotherapy. She enjoys being outdoors, spending time in her garden, caring for her three Shetland ponies, and getting out into the community. Her interests include concerts, theatre, gardening, and shopping, and she values carers who support her independence and help her stay active and involved in the things she loves.
You will be providing full support with personal care, eating and drinking, daily living tasks, and community activities, ensuring her safety, comfort, and wellbeing at all times.
Shifts
Day Shift – 2‑person team
- Person 1: 7am–7pm
- Person 2: 8am–8pm
Waking Night – 1‑person shift
What We’re Looking For
Experience with complex care is desirable but not essential — empathy, compassion, and a caring nature are what matter most. Full training will be provided by our experienced clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep the individual safe, well, and supported at all times
- Provide high‑quality personal care and healthcare tasks as trained
- Support with eating, drinking, mobility, and daily routines
- Empower independence and encourage engagement in meaningful activities
- Support her rehabilitation and physiotherapy goals
- Accompany her in the community (shopping, theatre, concerts, outdoor activities)
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with family, professionals, and the wider care team
- Promote a consistent, person‑centred approach
Essential Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Valid UK driving licence
- Two references
- Two forms of ID
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Willingness to work towards Level 2/3 Health & Social Care Diploma
Preferable (Non‑Essential)
- DBS Certificate (Update Service)
- NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent
