Part-Time or Freelance | 16–20 hours per week | HybridCyclo Monster – Spondon, Derby
Cyclo Monster is an independent specialist bike retailer selling bikes, e-bikes, components and accessories both in-store and online.
We're looking for a creative and organised Marketing & Social Media Coordinator to plan, create and manage our marketing content across social media, email newsletters and our blog/website.
We're open to either a part-time employee (16–20 hours per week) or an experienced freelancer, with flexible working available.
Some regular time at our Spondon store is essential for photography, filming and gathering content. Planning, editing, writing and scheduling can be completed remotely.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for planning and coordinating our ongoing marketing activity, including:
- Creating and managing a marketing/content calendar
- Planning and posting across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
- Creating Reels, TikToks, Shorts and other video content
- Photographing and filming bikes, products and activity in-store
- Planning and producing customer email newsletters
- Creating blog and website content
- Coordinating new product launches, promotions and seasonal campaigns
- Working with our team and suppliers to identify content opportunities
- Monitoring performance and identifying what content works
- Helping develop the overall Cyclo Monster marketing strategy
We're looking for someone who can proactively generate ideas and take ownership of the content schedule, rather than simply waiting to be given individual posts to create.
Skills & Experience
We're looking for someone with:
- Good knowledge of Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
- Experience creating engaging social content
- Photography and short-form video skills
- Strong written English and copywriting ability
- Good organisational and planning skills
- Ability to work independently
- A creative but commercially focused approach to marketing
Experience with Canva, CapCut/Adobe, email marketing, WordPress, SEO, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite or e-commerce would be advantageous.
An interest in cycling, e-bikes or the wider cycling industry would also be beneficial, but isn't essential.
Working Arrangement
This can be either:
Part-Time Employment: approximately 16–20 hours per week, with a combination of on-site and home working.
Freelance: we're open to discussing an appropriate number of hours or a monthly retainer based on the proposed content and marketing plan.
For either arrangement, regular visits to our Spondon store will be required to photograph and film content.
How to Apply
Please send your CV or details of your relevant experience, along with a covering letter/proposal.
As part of your application, we'd like you to include a brief proposed content plan and posting schedule for Cyclo Monster, including:
- How often you would post across the main social channels
- Your approach to video/Reels/TikTok
- Proposed newsletter and blog frequency
- An example weekly content schedule
- How you would use the available 16–20 hours effectively
- Any initial ideas for improving our current marketing
We're not looking for a complete marketing strategy at the application stage – we simply want to understand how you think, plan and prioritise content.
Please also include examples of previous work or a portfolio where available.
Freelancers should include their proposed rate or monthly retainer and what this would include.
