The purpose of this role is to support the planning and delivery of aspirational, person-centred activities and specialist educational support for children, young people and adults with disabilities, including those with Down Syndrome. The postholder will promote independence, inclusion, informed choice and skill development, while supporting tailored development plans in partnership with families, caregivers and the wider team.
Qualifications
Essential
Good standard of education and commitment to further training
Relevant qualification in Level 2 Health & Social Care or Education (or willing to work towards)
Desirable
First Aid qualification
Makaton / BSL trained
Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
Skills
Confident in supporting the delivery of activities and learning opportunities for children, young people and adults with disabilities.
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to engaging with a range of people.
Computer literate with the ability to use Microsoft Office and digital recording systems.
Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
Able to respond positively to challenges and adapt to change.
Committed to the provision support that promotes independence, choice and participation.
Proven organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to build positive relationships with children, young people, adults, families and partner agencies.
Accurate administration skills, including recording information and collecting data.
Experience
Experience of supporting children, young people and/or adults with disabilities, additional needs or learning difficulties.
Experience of providing tailored activities, support or learning opportunities.
Experience of maintaining clear, accurate records to support service delivery.
Experience of coordinating group sessions or community-based activities.
Experience supporting volunteers, students or placement staff.
