We are looking for a Structure Stress Engineer to join our aerospace engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing static, fatigue, and damage tolerance stress analysis for primary and secondary aircraft structures in line with Airbus methods, standards, and certification requirements. The position requires strong hands-on experience in structural justification, hand calculations, finite element analysis, and fatigue & damage tolerance assessment for both metallic and composite structures. If you are passionate about aerospace structural stress analysis, have strong Airbus program experience, and enjoy working in a collaborative engineering environment, we’d love to connect with you.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform Static, Fatigue, and Damage Tolerance (FDT) stress analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures using both classical hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Carry out structural justification analysis, specifically covering Stress, Fatigue, and Damage Tolerance assessments.
- Perform stress analysis for both metallic and composite aircraft structures.
- Understand and evaluate load paths, including extraction of loads from GFEM/DFEM finite element models.
- Determine critical failure modes and perform detailed analysis to ensure continued structural integrity and airworthiness compliance.
- Apply appropriate mitigation techniques for low margins of safety and support resolution of structural concerns.
- Prepare stress dossiers and supporting analysis documentation in line with certification and program requirements.
- Review and validate stress analysis outputs and stress dossiers to ensure compliance with technical, certification, and customer requirements.
- Support the safe operation of Airbus aircraft by ensuring structural assessments are aligned with airworthiness and structural integrity requirements.
- Drive issue resolution by interfacing with cross-functional teams including Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Configuration Management.
- Act as a technical representative for onsite-offshore coordination, addressing engineering queries, clarifications, and technical escalations.
- Work with Airbus stress processes, methods, and tools, including ISAMI and related Airbus analysis systems.
Requirements
- BE / BTech / MTech / MS or equivalent degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience in aerospace structural stress analysis.
- Proven experience working on Airbus aircraft programs.
- Strong proficiency in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis for aircraft structures.
- Hands-on experience in advanced static and non-linear analysis.
- Strong knowledge of hand calculations and finite element analysis methods.
- Good knowledge of Airbus design and analysis processes and procedures, including RSDP, SIDP, AP, ABD, AIPI, AIPS, and related standards.
- Strong understanding of aerospace design principles and airworthiness requirements.
- Experience using Airbus Supply tools and platforms such as DocMaster, Airnavx, and related systems.
- Experience in ensuring the safe structural operation of Airbus aircraft with respect to integrity and certification requirements.
- Prior Airbus Stress Signatory experience, including Checker/Approver responsibility, is highly preferred.
- Valid Airbus training certifications in SAP, ISAMI, VPM, and PASS SSI.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across complex engineering interfaces.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional and distributed engineering teams.
