About the Role
We are looking for an organised and detail-focused Finance Assistant to join our team at our Maybrook site in Walsall.
This is a varied finance role covering both purchase and sales ledger activities, with the opportunity to be involved in credit control, reconciliations, month-end processes and audit preparation.
The role would suit someone who already has experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar position and is looking to develop their experience within a busy and practical business environment.
You will work closely with colleagues across the business as well as communicating directly with customers and suppliers, so strong attention to detail and professional communication skills are important.
Key Responsibilities
As our Finance Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day purchase and sales ledger activities
- Processing purchase and sales invoices and credit notes accurately and efficiently
- Carrying out credit control and following up on outstanding payments
- Preparing and sending customer statements
- Reconciling customer and supplier statements
- Investigating and resolving invoice queries and discrepancies in a timely manner
- Liaising professionally with customers, suppliers and internal teams
- Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
- Supporting month-end finance processes
- Assisting with preparation for the annual audit
- Providing general administrative and ad-hoc support to the Finance team
- Helping ensure financial information is accurate, organised and kept up to date
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised and comfortable working with financial information.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or in a similar finance role
- Experience with purchase ledger and/or sales ledger
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Good general IT skills
- Experience using accounting software would be advantageous
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to prioritise and manage your workload effectively
- A proactive approach to investigating and resolving problems
- Confident and professional communication skills
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Mandarin language skills would be advantageous but are not essential
