Production Operative – Machine Operator
Location: Rotherham
Salary: Starting from £27,759.97 – up to £33,207.90 per annum (dependent on skills, experience and position)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Shift Pattern:
Following successful training, you will work a continental shift pattern:
· 4 days on, 4 days off
· 2 x 12-hour day shifts
· 2 x 12-hour night shifts
Training Period – to support your onboarding and development, you will initially work a rotating three-shift pattern:
· Days: 5:45am – 2:00pm
· Afters: 1:45pm – 10:00pm
· Nights: 9:45pm – 6:00am
Once training has been successfully completed, you will transfer to the continental shift pattern and your salary will be reviewed.

The Role
Working as part of a small production team, you will operate automated CNC machinery to manufacture high-quality mattress pocket spring components while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency. You will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve production targets and maintain excellent manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
· Operate CNC automated machinery to manufacture mattress pocket spring sheets
· Set up and change product specifications using manual controls and touchscreen interfaces
· Monitor machine performance and identify potential issues
· Carry out basic machine adjustments where required
· Maintain consistent production output and quality standards
Quality & Production
· Carry out product testing and calibration procedures
· Complete quality checks and report any defects promptly
· Record production and quality data accurately
· Complete production paperwork and system records as required
· Follow work instructions, specifications and planning schedules
· Maintain accurate records to support quality and traceability
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
· Work safely at all times, following all Health & Safety procedures and company policies
· Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the production area
· Handle materials safely, including manual handling where required
· Report hazards, faults or safety concerns promptly
Teamwork
· Work effectively within a small shift team
· Communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors
· Support team productivity and continuous improvement initiatives
· Demonstrate flexibility across different production tasks
About You
We're looking for someone who is reliable, motivated and takes pride in producing quality work. You'll ideally have:
· Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment
· Experience operating CNC or automated machinery
· A strong understanding of Health & Safety principles and safe working practices
· Good numeracy skills and attention to detail
· Strong communication skills with a good standard of written and spoken English
· Good organisational and housekeeping skills
· Excellent timekeeping and reliability
· Physical fitness suitable for manual handling and lifting duties
· The ability to follow procedures and verbal instructions accurately
· A positive, proactive and can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn and develop into a multi-skilled operator
