Overview:
We have opportunities for MOT Testers at our Rochester, Dartford, Deptford and Isle of Sheppey sites. You will deliver all aspects of the MOT test to Government standards. You will put just as much into the customer experience as the technical aspects of your role to ensure our customers feel welcome and looked after so they return year after year.
As the MOT Tester reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all MOTs are carried out according to statutory requirements and within agreed timeframes. Your work will be able to work independently to the highest standards using the equipment provided.
It is expected that you will operate in a professional and profitable manner, observing and upholding The Test Centre’s values and adhering to all contractual standards and encourage your colleague to do the same.
Background
The Test Centre is the busiest MOT testing station in the UK with four prestigious centres across Deptford (London), Dartford (Kent), Rochester (Kent), Sevenoaks (Kent) and The Isle of Sheppey (Kent). The Test Centre is a family-owned business established in 1995 and now employs over 50 staff with a strong market presence. The Test Centre has plans to grow the business in the coming years. Whilst it is demanding of its staff with regards to performance, the Company also shows genuine care to its employees.

Overview:
As the MOT Tester reporting to the Centre’s Service Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all MOTs are carried out according to statutory requirements and within agreed timeframes. Your work will be of the highest standard and workmanship, using the equipment provided.
It is expected that you will operate in a professional and profitable manner, observing and upholding The Test Centre’s values and adhering to all contractual standards and encourage your colleague to do the same.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
● To carry out MOT tests reporting faults accurately and complete all paperwork according to statutory requirements.
● To maintain up to date and accurate records
● To make full use of the specialised tools, service equipment and training as provided to improve skill levels, customer service and workshop efficiency.
● To clearly and accurately document all work performed ensuring that times are recorded as requested by management.
● To supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned
● To ensure that the vehicles worked on are carefully handled and that all reasonable care is taken of that vehicle whilst on the premises.
● To maintain thorough and current product knowledge and read all Technical Bulletins as supplied by the Management.
● To audit and maintain equipment regularly and report problems immediately to the Service Manager
● To adhere to Health and Safety, COSHH and Fire regulation at all times, including the wearing of the proper uniform and protective clothing; and only using equipment in which you have been trained.
● To keep workstations clean and tidy
● To be prepared to work overtime, with reasonable notice, if requested by Management
● To undertake other reasonable duties and training in the interest of the company as required by Management.
● To carry out general maintenance as requested, this will include the general upkeep and to improve company property and belongings.
● To carry out any promotional requests by the company, this may include leaflet distribution.

Essential Qualifications
● You will have an active DVSA live Account OR 4 years proven experience in the industry if you wish to obtain your licence with The Test Centre Training.
● You will have previous mechanical/technical experience or equivalent NVQ 3
● You will have good IT skills including the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word Excel to an intermediate level.
● You will have a valid clean UK Driving Licence & will need to complete a DBS check.
