Overview
Amtrak Logistics are growing Haulage company based in Coventry , West Midlands.We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager who holds a valid Transport Manager CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) to manage our transport operations and ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation along with at least 2-5 years’ experience in Transport Planning and , Management preferably in transport and Logistics.
The role will involve:
- Arranging and planning vehicles daily.
- Ensure compliance with Operator Licence (O-Licence) undertakings and all DVSA regulations.
- Manage driver compliance, including working time, drivers' hours, and tachograph regulations.
- Plan and oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, MOTs, inspections, and defect reporting.
- Monitor fleet performance, utilisation, and operational efficiency.
- Recruit, train, and manage drivers where required.
- Investigate and resolve transport-related incidents and compliance issues.
- Maintain accurate transport records and documentation.
- Provide supporting information to customers and managing driver workloads.
- Ensuring vehicles are operating efficiently and profitably.
- Communicating with customers and resolving issues when they arise.
- You will be responsible for a team of drivers and vehicles including HGV's.
- To ensure all vehicle walkaround and defects are being completed.
- Liaise with our sales and accounts teams for any delivery or POD enquiries.
- Plan and route all daily and next day vehicles.
- Debrief drivers after route and reconcile any paperwork/payments.
Essential Requirements
- Valid Transport Manager CPC (Road Haulage) qualification.
- Previous experience managing a transport operation within the haulage or logistics industry.
- Thorough knowledge of UK Operator Licence requirements, DVSA regulations, and drivers' hours legislation.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport management systems.
- Experience managing HGV fleets.
- Knowledge of FORS, Earned Recognition, or other compliance schemes.
- Experience with fleet management software.
