Hours
Three week rolling rota, 24.5 hours on, 47.5 hours off (Start at 09:30am, complete sleep-in and finish at 10am the following day).
The Role: Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner
· Develop strong, positive and meaningful relationships children;
· Create individualised strength-based plans and deliver focused interventions (our time sessions) based on the goals/needs of the children;
· Advocate for each child, ensuring their voices are heard and respected;
· Encourage and support children in their educational, training and employment goals;
· Facilitate and participate in hobbies, interests and recreational activities with children;
· Ensure the health and well-being of children by managing appointments and liaising with healthcare professionals;
· Promote and support the emotional and mental health of children through positive interactions and therapeutic practices;
· Create a child-centred approach that includes equality, rights, inclusion and listening to children’s wishes and feelings;
· Create and maintain an environment that is safe, secure, clean and homely;
· Promote the core values, trauma-informed approach, aims and objectives of the project;
· Uphold safeguarding and protection protocols, ensuring a safe environment for all children;
· Keep accurate, timely and detailed records.
· Supervise and support Residential Childcare Practitioners, providing guidance and leadership;
· Coordinate and lead meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among the team;
· Support the Registered Manager in the overall management of the home, including administrative duties;
· Manage and oversee casework for children, ensuring their diverse needs are met;
· Act as a role model, demonstrating best practices in childcare and professional behaviour.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience working in a children’s/young people's setting
- Has senior or leadership experience
- Holds (or is working towards) a Level 4 or 5 qualification in Residential Childcare / Leadership & Management
- Has strong safeguarding knowledge and a child-centred approach
- Is organised, resilient, and confident
- Is committed to positive outcomes and reflective practice
- Ability to record accurately and confidently
- Has friendly, positive, empathetic, patient and non-judgmental attitude towards others and life in general;
- Good knowledge of Developmental Trauma and the impact this has on children
- At least 2 years’ experience of working with children and/or young people, with experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- At least 22 years old.
